Over $5,000 Raised at Romania Benefit Auction in Hazelwood (A suburb of St. Louis) HAZELWOOD, MO --- Over $5,000 was raised at a recent Romania Benefit Auction sponsored by North County Community Church in Hazelwood that drew 108 bidders and featured items ranging from metal sports lockers to a giant, stuffed toy dog. Proceeds are to benefit the ProLogos Christian Association in southeastern Romania and assist the Hazelwood-based church send a team there in June to work with impoverished children, inner city youth and the outcast gypsy minority. "The auction was one of our most successful events ever and we helped meet some of the needs of local families with the things they bought at a great price while also raising money to help the less fortunate on the other side of the world," said Pastor Joe Rodgers. "We want to thank all the individuals and businesses who donated items, everyone who came out to bid and especially Mound City Estate Sales & Auctions for donating their services to organize and host the event." He also thanked a prominent area family that made a very generous donation at the event, but said they wished to remain anonymous. In the last decade, North County Community Church has sent numerous teams to what remains one of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe and helped build a public water well, a public park, two community centers and underwritten a children's feeding program.
